2009-2010 YOUTH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Hey, teens and parents! Youth Fellowship
year commences in the Fall. TBD in September on Sunday at
1 p.m., Middle-School and senior highs will meet in
Gray’s parking lot across from the church to go serve the hungry
at First Pres.’s own Cranford–Elmora Soup
Kitchen in Elizabeth. Everyone is
invited, especially 1st-timers!
Then at 6 p.m., Middle School Fellowship will meet in Room 302 to start their year of
fun, learning, eating and growing in faith.
The Middle School-ers will take
part in a fun evening of “who-done-it?” action, as we all participate
in a “Search for the Truth” mystery.
The Middle School Fellowship this year will be led by volunteer
leaders Melissa and Gordon Layfield, and
Brian Knutson.
At 7 p.m., both Middle School Fellowship and the High School Fellowship will gather
together for a combined pizza dinner.
Then at 7:30 p.m., high school-age teens will get together for the High School Fellowship’s
kickoff gathering.
This year, the High School group will take part in
a year-long project designing and creating a real film, using professional
film-making techniques, storyboards, and cameras and equipment. High schoolers will
work with the Ministry Intern and volunteer adult leaders. High School Fellowship gatherings each week
will design activities, Bible-talks and fellowship—and movie making!—around
the faith-based theme for the whole year- “Search for the Truth”.
AUDIO CDs of First Pres. worship services are available by contacting the Church
Office.
PRAYER CARDS are available in the pew racks, and may be placed in the offering plate
or submitted to the Church Office at any time. Your joys and/or concerns will be included in
the weekly prayers of church leaders and First Presbyterian Church’s
Prayer Chain.
Walk the Labyrinth
– A Path to Prayer
On the first Sunday of each month, from 1-4 p.m., the Spritual Enrichment Team sponsors a Labyrinth Walk in Bates Hall. The community is cordially invited to experience this unique and meaningful form of prayer. The next Labyrinth Walk will be this afternoon, and you’re invited.Walking the Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice of prayer and meditation that is being rediscovered in our time. The 11-ringed pattern, painted on canvas, is modeled on the 13th century labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral. At that time, walking the labyrinth symbolized the Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem for people who could not personally make the journey. Here at First Presbyterian Church, the Labyrinth is made available to the congregation and our wider community as a means for all of us to grow spiritually. |
