YWCA Union County is a private, nonprofit organization providing services to survivors of domestic violence in Union County. On April 25, 2019, First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, NJ and in particular, Janice Grevious and Skip Winter, will be honored for their committed efforts on behalf of survivors of domestic violence. Here are some details on our wonderful honorees and their individual and collective efforts:
Janice Grevious – through the work of her Martin Luther King Day of Service Event At First Presbyterian Cranford, Janice and her ecumenical and community team of organizations has donated numerous personal care products and decorated tote bags to the women’s shelter.
Skip Winter – participates on the Racial Justice Task Force of the YWCA of Union County and donated hats, gloves and scarves collected from the Union County Interfaith Coordinating Council (UCICC) Homeless Vigil in December of 2018. Brought Maria Eugenia Delgadilo from Axayacatl in Nicaragua to meet with the staff of the YWCA to compare best practices of the two organizations and to encourage the YWCA to write articles and promote awareness of domestic violence in the UCICC monthly newsletter.
First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, NJ – the Cranford/Elmora Soup Kitchen donates excess meals from their excess servings in Elizabeth to guests at the shelter and actively promotes the safety of women and children by participating in the FISH and Operation Warmheart programs.
